Labyrinthitis

After a week of feeling dizzy and nauseous, I went to the doctor. He diagnosed me with Labyrinthitis. It is an inflammation of the inner ears. It can last for several days to several weeks. So far I have had it for just over a week, and have felt dizzy constantly. I would describe it as feeling like your carsick 24/7. There were a few hours on Thursday where I felt normal, but it returned in the evening and has been persistent since.

There is no medication that "cures" it. Because it is viral, there are no antibiotics. My Dr. prescribed me some motion sickness pills, but I opted not to take them as I know they will knock me out. (The thought of me passed out on the couch and my kids reeking havoc on the house made that decision real easy.) Basically, it's one of those things that you just have to ride it out. I push through my day, but I have to stop and rest a lot. It's weird because usually when you lay down and get some sleep, you usually wake up feeling better. With this condition, you lay down feeling crappy and when you wake up you still feel the exact same way you did when you laid down.

I have not kept up on the house work, and we've eaten out a lot the last week. The kids start back to school tomorrow after a month long break. It will be nice to get back into a routine again. Although this condition is hyper annoying, I am grateful it is not permanent.

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear that! How awful. Have you tried sea bands:

They work a little for me for motion sickness and they don't make you sleepy. Get well soon!

I forgot about sea bands. I do have some and I'm gonna try them. Can't hurt. Good thinking! Thanks for the suggestion!

Dang! I was hoping you were feeling better by now. I'm sure it will help having some of the kids gone for a few hours. If you want me to take your youngins while the others are at school you could take some of that medicine and sleep all day. Call me if you like that plan (or if you think of a better one where I can help). . .seriously:)
