I took the boys to the D.I. with me to buy some jars for canning. After we got the jars, we were looking at toys. Owen showed me this large ziplock bag with a bunch of toy cars and little toy figurines. We put it back on the shelf and continued down the isle. I looked up and saw a lady looking at the same bag of cars we just looked at, and then I saw her drop the bag of cars into her purse. Ya, she lifted them!

We have been taught that stealing is wrong. And we have been taught that we have our own free agency. It was there in the toy isle that I had this internal dialog with myself:

*It was only Three Dollars.

*I'm sure the lady knows that she shouldn't steal, it'll be on her conscience. But wait, will it be on my conscience because I saw her and I just let it go?

*I don't want to cause a scene over Three Dollars.

*It's not just the Three Dollars, it's the principle......

What would you have done? I did not do anything. Should I be feeling guilty? Cuz I do, just a little.

I doubt I would be brave enough to say anything either, although I like to think I would.

Stealing from DI? What up? I wouldn't have had the guts to say anything to her either.

Interesting philosophical question. I think I would have pulled 3 dollars out of my purse and given it to her. I would have said, "Your integrity is worth so much more than 3 dollars." Then I would have gotten out of that store as fast as I could.

D: On the way home Kurt said like 3 times, Man and Joe got every ball up that came near him. He was seriously impressed.

Rachel: Bwaaaahhhaaaa-haaaa!

I would tell the cashier at the front and not confront her. If you saw it how do you know your kids didn't. Then they saw you not do anything? It is a touchy situation but I would have spoke to someone.

I would have said something to the manager. I'm like you and agree it is the principle that counts not the stinkin' three dollars.
Besides, most of us know that "Even small donations bless many nations." That money would have gone to help someone else in need. So really she is stealing from someone in need.

Courtney: no, my kids didn't see it happen.

that's a tough one. I can say I'd probably say some thing but then again I wouldn't really know until I was put in that situation.
Man I miss DI, the goodwills here just aren't the same!

I steal from D.I I just figure that the church owns it and I pay tithing sometimes so it's pretty much mine anyways....right? J/K ya I probably would have made her feel really stupid by confronting her. Ash would have ran away as well.
