We inherited a betta fish from our good friends. They named him Redfish for obvious reasons. We were excited to introduce Redfish as the newest member of our family. However, on several occasions, we thought we lost the poor thing. We would find him floating midwater in his tank, or laying at the bottom of it belly side up. Whenever a visitor would come over they would always say, "Oh, it looks like your fish is dead." But believe it or not, the little guy isn't dead, he just looks the part. Can someone please explain this to me? Is this fish so miserable that he fakes dead 98 percent of the time just so that I will flush him down the toilet to bigger and better things? Is this fish so miserable that he would rather be dead? Or is this his ploy to get me clean his tank every single day?
These pictures pretty much depict what our Redfish does and looks like all the day long.

lol-sorry Kike I can't explain, but it's pretty funny.
so we got three goldfish, and i have a hard time with them, because they were for the kids, but its us cleaning and feeding and the kids wouldn't even notice if they were gone. I have tried to give them away, and nobody wants them. I definately won't get any other pets.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....Every time I think about you and that fish I laugh out loud. He did the same thing to me but you seriously seem to be a bit more concerned with it than me. I secretly kept hoping he would be dead so I could flush him! Are you hoping for the same thing?? Its ok if you are. Is his medicine not working? lol
Roch: you would think that my genuine care and love for this fish would make him thrive. But Seriously, I do sometimes wish he would just kick the bucket, especially since he just plays dead all the dang day!
I am going to start medicating him again. Maybe he liked being gooned on the juice.
