The Name Game

Cletis Darnell-
Whenever asked what we were naming our baby Kurt responded, Ted. Ted eventually turned into Cletis Darnell. "He's joking," I would announce to break the silence when the wide eyed response of "ohhhhhh, n...i...c...e.... n...a...m....e...." was the reply we got.

Throughout the whole pregnancy we couldn't put our thumb on a name. We usually wait to see what the little person looks like before naming it. And that's what we did this go-round too. We waited until the last possible minute.

We decided that Cletis Darnell just didn't fit. And instead, went with:

Eli
(not to be confused with E-l-ee, but E-lie)
Despite his look of shock and worriment, he too decided that he had to let the name Cletis go and accept the new name of Eli.

At the end of the day everyone was happy, and agreed that the new name was a perfect fit. After worrying for so long, he finally succumbed and was as content as could be with his new name, Eli.

I love that name, and was actually going to name my son that, but when he came out he didn't look like an Eli to us. so now that is his middle name. Good choice! Sorry Cletice didn't stick but I am partial to Eli :)
